Well, here we go, what I want to do is to find the lightest softwares around to make my pc smaller and faster (note, Windows XP)...I especially need something like:
- MSN/WLM emulator
- eMule emulator (possibly different interface but same servers etc)
- Browser (i already got GChrome, but if there's something lighter...)
- A really _complete_ cd burner like Nero, but smaller and faster...
Please I really need them, since this crap is slow as hell and it's going to end like the laptop...
Thanks

I've got a few suggestions for you Andre. You may well have tried some of them, but when I used a laptop this stuff kept it clean and relatively fast.
Firefox
Thunderbird
CCleaner light
Avast anti virus
CDex
CDBurnerxp
Foxit; for pdf files
7zip
Sygate personal firewall
Safe xp
Chatzilla
Thanks tipper, I tried Safe XP, 7-Zip (awesome, I couldn't want more than this

), CCleaner (I got it in the past, but it probably gave me problems for the system reg), and avast...Oh, about CCleaner, won't it damage my system even if I'll backup everytime, right?

I have heard that CCleaner gave some people reg problems. How I used it was to use Windows cleaner (include the advanced options if you don't mind losing prefetch data etc) fairly regularly, but only use the issues correcter once a month or so; back up as well and delete back up at a later date. After an issues clean I ran Windows own Clean up tool, making use of the "delete all but recent restore points". Reducing the amount of memory that the restore system uses is also a good tip.
After all that, click on My Computer, right click your local disc, then click properties, then tools and an option to scan and repair disc sectors can be set for next boot up. It does take a bit of time.
You may also find this a very useful program to aid security if you don't want to depend on automatic updates. It shuts the ports used by Windows to spy on you
